Terms & Notary Disclaimer
Terms and Notary Disclaimer
Effective Date: July 1, 2026
This page explains important terms, limitations, and disclaimers for using the Riverstone Signature Services website and requesting mobile notary services.
Not a Law Firm
Riverstone Signature Services is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
We cannot draft legal documents, prepare legal forms, explain legal rights or obligations, tell you which document you need, tell you whether you should sign a document, choose the notarial act for you, determine whether a document is legally valid, or advise on legal, financial, medical, or tax matters.
Please contact an attorney, document issuer, receiving agency, financial professional, or other appropriate professional if you have questions about a document.
Notarization Does Not Guarantee Legal Validity
A notarization does not prove that a document is true, accurate, legal, enforceable, or acceptable to a receiving party.
A notarial act verifies specific requirements such as personal appearance, identification, acknowledgment, oath, affirmation, or signature depending on the notarial act performed.
Personal Appearance Required
The signer must personally appear before the notary at the time of notarization.
Identification Required
The signer must provide acceptable identification as required for the notarial act. If acceptable identification is not available, the notary may be unable to proceed.
Signer Willingness and Awareness
The signer must be willing to sign and able to communicate directly with the notary in English.
A notary may refuse service if the signer appears confused, does not appear to understand the transaction, is unwilling to sign, cannot communicate directly, appears pressured or coerced, lacks acceptable identification, presents an incomplete or problematic document, or creates a concern under California notary requirements.
Document Readiness
Clients are responsible for having documents ready and complete before the appointment.
A notary cannot fill in legal content, choose notarial wording for the client, or decide which notarial act is required.
Witnesses
Some documents may require witnesses. Clients are responsible for determining whether witnesses are needed and for arranging witnesses when required. Riverstone Signature Services does not provide witnesses for signings and cannot provide legal advice about witness requirements.
Fees and Payment
Fees may include notarial act fee, mobile travel fee, waiting fee, printing fee, after-hours fee, cancellation fee, and other agreed-upon service fees. Pricing will be provided before appointment confirmation whenever possible. Payment is due at the appointment unless other arrangements are made in advance.
Cancellation and Waiting Time
Because mobile notary appointments require travel and reserved time, cancellation or waiting fees may apply. A cancellation fee may apply if an appointment is canceled after the notary has begun traveling. A waiting fee may apply if the signer, documents, witnesses, facility access, or identification are not ready at the scheduled time.
Right to Refuse Service
Riverstone Signature Services reserves the right to refuse service when required or appropriate under notary law, ethical standards, safety concerns, appointment circumstances, incomplete information, identification issues, signer awareness concerns, suspected coercion, or other reasonable concerns.
